Strategies To Manage Brawl Stars Gems & Coins💎
Learn How To Manage Your Resources Efficiently!
Ever since I started playing Brawl Stars back in 2020, I've always been fascinated by the resource system — especially Gems. As a mostly free-to-play player, I learned very early on that Gems are incredibly valuable, not just because they help me unlock the Brawl Pass or skins, but because they give me a feeling of steady progress. Over the years, I've experimented with different playstyles and approaches, and I've developed a set of strategies that help me manage and slowly increase my Gems and Coins using nothing but the game's built-in mechanics.
In this guide, I want to share my personal experience. I'm not promising fast results or magic tricks — everything I describe here comes from patience, consistent play, and understanding how the game rewards you. If you are also playing without spending money or just want to make the most out of your resources, this might help you as well.
1. Understanding How the Game Naturally Rewards You
One thing that changed my entire mindset was realizing how many rewards Brawl Stars gives you simply for playing regularly. I used to think that progress was slow, but once I looked closely at how tokens, boxes, and the Brawl Pass work together, I noticed that my resources were growing far more than I expected.
Daily and Weekly Quests
I try to complete as many daily quests as I can, even if I only have a bit of time. The tokens from quests add up quickly over the week. When I combine them with the weekly quests, I usually progress several tiers on the Brawl Pass, even without spending anything.
Starr Drops and Box Rewards
Starr Drops became a huge part of my progression. I never expect Gems from them, but I've noticed that over long periods, I occasionally get some. It's not a guaranteed method, but it's something that naturally contributes to my total over time. What I like about Starr Drops is that they're tied to gameplay, so even losing matches or playing casually still counts toward them.
Consistency Pays Off
One season, I didn't buy the Brawl Pass at all. I simply completed the free track from start to finish. By doing that, I ended the season with a surprising amount of Coins, Power Points, and a handful of Gems that came from boxes along the way. That was the moment I realized how much value the free track actually provides if you play consistently.
2. Saving Gems Instead of Spending Them Immediately
This might sound obvious, but it's the strategy that helped me the most.
Whenever I used to get Gems, I would instantly spend them on minor cosmetics or small in-game items. Later, I regretted it because I always ended up being a few Gems short of the Brawl Pass.
Eventually, I started saving every Gem I earned, no matter how tempting the offers were. After a few seasons of playing like this, I finally had enough to unlock the Brawl Pass without spending real money. Since then, I've followed the same pattern every season:
- I save all Gems from boxes and drops.
- I only spend them on the Brawl Pass.
- I complete the entire pass for maximum value.
- The Brawl Pass gives me more Gems back, which helps me afford future passes.
This long-term cycle made progression feel extremely steady and satisfying.
3. Making the Most of Seasonal Events
Brawl Stars regularly introduces limited-time events tied to celebrations, holidays, or game anniversaries. While these events don't always give Gems directly, they provide bonus rewards that indirectly help you progress.
Examples from My Experience
Anniversary Events 🎂
I always save the boxes I collect during these events. More boxes mean more chances for Gems later, and more Power Points and Coins in general.
Lunar New Year 🏮
In some years, I received extra token events or reward multipliers. I used these to push through more quests, which eventually translated into more Brawl Pass progress.
Brawlidays 🎄
This is my personal favorite season. The game feels more generous, and I often finish with significantly more drops and boxes than usual.
While none of these are instant Gem sources, they support the overall long-term strategy of maximizing your account's progression.
4. How I Manage My Coins Efficiently
Coins are just as important as Gems, especially when it comes to upgrading Brawlers. Early in my Brawl Stars journey, I wasted a lot of Coins upgrading every Brawler a little bit, which resulted in me having many mid-level characters but no real power on any of them.
Eventually, I changed my approach. Here's what I do now:
- I focus on Brawlers I use the most.
- I only upgrade a Brawler when I know I'm going to play them regularly.
- I avoid spending Coins on random upgrades just because they're available.
- During special upgrade discount events, I save Coins and wait for price reductions.
This method helped me build a stronger roster without feeling like my Coins were disappearing instantly.
5. Maximizing the Brawl Pass Without Paying
Even on the free track, the Brawl Pass offers a lot of value. But if I manage to save enough Gems to buy it, I try to extract the maximum benefit from it.
My approach looks like this:
- Do every daily quest — even the quick ones.
- Finish weekly quests early so I don't fall behind.
- Play game modes that I enjoy, because staying motivated matters.
- Push one Brawler at a time instead of switching constantly.
When I stay consistent, I often complete the entire pass before the season ends. This not only gives extra boxes but also increases the chances of getting Gems back.
There was a season where I finished so early that I used the extra time to just enjoy playing without focusing on rewards. Ironically, that was the same season I accumulated enough Gems to afford the next pass as well.
6. Learning from Losses and Improving Over Time
One underrated way is improving your skill. Better gameplay leads to:
- more victories
- more Starr Drops
- more quests completed faster
- more trophies
- more seasonal rewards
I don't win every match, and sometimes I go on losing streaks, but whenever that happens, I switch modes, play a different Brawler, or take a break. Long losing streaks drain motivation, so I avoid forcing them.
By gradually improving, I naturally progress through the trophy road, unlocking more resources and free rewards along the way.
7. Staying Patient and Enjoying the Process
Over the years, I've learned that Brawl Stars is most enjoyable when I don't rush anything. Resources grow steadily over time. Some seasons I collect more, others less. That's completely normal.
If I had to summarize everything into a few core principles, they would be:
- Be patient — Gems accumulate slowly but steadily.
- Be consistent — daily and weekly quests matter more than most players think.
- Spend Gems wisely — avoid impulse purchases.
- Use events to your advantage — they add up over time.
- Upgrade smartly — Coins disappear quickly if you spread them too thin.
These strategies helped me maintain a healthy free-to-play account that grows every season without pressure, and without bending the rules in any way.
